Dental care in Fresno, CA 93710

If you are in pain right now, the useful information is at the top: call (559) 438-6177. We hold slots every day for emergencies, and same-day appointments fill from the afternoon backwards — so the earlier you call, the more likely you are to be seen today.

A knocked-out adult tooth is the one genuine race against the clock: hold it by the crown, keep it in milk, and come straight in. For everything else, phone and describe it — we would far rather triage you over the phone than have you guess at home.

Is this a dental emergency?

Treat it as urgent if you have severe or worsening pain, facial or gum swelling, bleeding that will not stop, a knocked-out or badly broken tooth, or an injury to the jaw. Those need to be seen today, not slotted into next week.

Some things feel alarming but can safely wait a day or two: a lost filling or crown with no pain, a small chip with no sharp edge, mild sensitivity to cold, or food wedged between teeth that comes out with floss. If you are unsure which you have, phone and describe it — we would far rather talk you through it than have you sit at home guessing.

Go to the emergency room instead

Swelling spreading toward your eye or down into your neck, or coming with fever or difficulty swallowing or breathing, is a medical emergency rather than a dental one. That needs an ER, not a dental chair.

What to do before you get here

Knocked-out adult tooth. Hold it by the crown, never the root. Rinse gently, put it back in the socket if you can, or keep it in milk. Come immediately — the first hour matters more than anything that follows.

Severe toothache. Rinse with warm salt water, take ordinary pain relief on schedule rather than waiting for the peak, and keep your head elevated. Do not hold aspirin against the gum — it burns the tissue and does nothing for the tooth.

Broken tooth. Save any fragments, cover a sharp edge with sugar-free gum or dental wax, and use a cold compress outside the cheek.

Swelling or abscess. Call the same day. Do not apply heat. Antibiotics alone will not fix it — the source has to be treated.

What an emergency visit costs

Cost should not be the reason you sit at home with an abscess. We accept all major PPO insurance, cash, and Medi-Cal / Denti-Cal, and we verify what your plan covers before treatment rather than afterwards.

If you have no insurance at all, say so when you call. We will be straight about what the visit involves before you commit, and financing is available for treatment that needs to follow. Our affordable dentist in Fresno page sets out the options.
